Start with the job the website needs to do
A simple service website, an online store and a customer portal involve different work. Begin by describing the audience, the pages or workflows and the action visitors should complete. The estimate should be connected to that scope, not just a page count.
Separate the main cost drivers
Design work depends on the number of unique layouts and the visual requirements. Content work includes planning, writing, photography and migration. Development work covers templates, editing, forms, integrations and testing. A product catalogue or a custom workflow can add significant complexity even when there are only a few visible page types.
Ask what content is included
Some proposals assume the client supplies finished copy and images. Others include content planning or writing. Agree who supplies each asset, when it is needed and how revisions work. Content availability also affects the project schedule.
Understand the platform and recurring costs
Hosting, domain renewal, platform subscriptions, paid plugins, apps and maintenance may sit outside the build fee. Ecommerce setups can also involve payment and fulfilment fees. Ask for a clear list of recurring responsibilities so the initial estimate does not conceal the ongoing cost.
Allow for existing websites and migration
A redesign may need URL mapping, content migration and integration work. It is not automatically cheaper than a new build. A proposal should explain what is retained, what changes and how the transition will be checked.
Compare proposals by their scope
Compare deliverables, design approach, content responsibility, editing, revisions, testing, handover and support. A cheaper number may describe a smaller job. Ask what happens when requirements change and whether there are dependencies on paid services.
Prepare a brief that helps estimate the work
List your goals, main pages or features, existing website, preferred launch window and any integrations. Include reference websites with an explanation of what you like about them. A budget range can help determine an appropriate scope.
What we need to prepare an estimate
We start with your requirements and identify any areas that need discovery. The proposal then sets out the scope and responsibilities. Our essential business website builds start at ₹10,000. Ecommerce stores and custom applications receive a separate quote. The starting price is not a universal price for every website: your proposal confirms the actual deliverables and any ongoing or third-party costs.
